A Holocaust Memorial Day assembly will be delivered to all Key Stage 2 pupils (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6). The assembly will be delivered by Miss Cartmill, Humanities Subject Lead for History and Geography.

The purpose of the assembly is to raise awareness of Holocaust Memorial Day and to support pupils’ understanding of the Holocaust in an age-appropriate and sensitive manner. The assembly will encourage reflection on themes of remembrance, tolerance, and respect, supporting both the history curriculum and the school’s wider values.

Miss Cartmill has been taking part in professional training provided by the Holocaust Educational Trust to inform her history subject leadership and teaching around the Holocaust. Following a careful review of this year’s applications, she has been offered a place on the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Exploring the Holocaust: UK Residential Course, in recognition of her commitment to Holocaust education. Miss Cartmill is delighted to have been accepted onto this course, which will take place during February half-term, and will further strengthen her subject knowledge and leadership.
