We were particularly privileged to host Lu Lawrence, a Second-Generation Holocaust Survivor in school on Tuesday 21st January. Year 10 students had the privilege of hearing Lu Lawrence, the daughter of Holocaust survivor, Zigi Shipper, share her father’s remarkable story of resilience, loss, and hope. The visit was particularly significant as it tied directly to the students’ ongoing study of the Holocaust in their History lessons this term. Mrs. Lawrence’s heartfelt and moving account brought history to life in a way that no textbook ever could. As Year 10 students prepare to study this topic in greater depth, Lu’s personal connection to these events provided a compelling foundation for their learning. The students engaged in lessons prior to the event to better understand Jewish life before ww2 and then engaged in a reflective lesson to better engage with their learning and importance of survivor testimony.
