On Monday 20th January we will deliver a presentation to P6 & 7 pupils and discuss the Holocaust, Srebrenica, Ukraine/Russia and Israel/Palestine conflicts. A member of staff will discuss her own experiences and show pictures of her visits to several concentration camps and why she feels so strongly that this subject should be taught in school.
From Tuesday 21st - Friday 24th January we will be reading Peter Landos' graphic memoir The Boy Who Didn't Want To Die. Using a visualiser we will show the pages on the smart board to enable pupils to follow the visual illustrations whilst staff read the story. We will discuss what we read at the end of each session to provide further information on anything pupils have questions about.
On Monday 27th January we will participate in an online event with Tom Palmer, the National Literacy Trust and HMDT. Last year we read Tom's book After the War and we have read several of his books in our P7 bookclub. We also watched The Windemere Boys film and plan to watch the BBC Documentary on The Windemere Boys after the online event.
Pupils will be given a tealight to take home to light up at night with their families.
On Wednesday 29th January we will participate in an online event with Peter Landos, the Anne Frank Trust UK and HMDT.
