Bridging Generations 2026 LEIGH TOWN HALL

We are holding a Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration Event at Leigh Town Hall on Tuesday 27th January from 11am until 12 pm.

There will be Readings by Members of the Community, Poetry by Leigh Paper Back Writers and a choir performance by Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Atherton.

Our Guest Speaker is Alison Cooper, a second generation speaker from the Northern Holocaust Education Group, who will share the story of her Mum : Judith Waxman.

The Mayor Cllr Jenny Bullen will light our Memorial Candle as we all stand to recite/renew the Statement of Commitment.

There will be the showing of the National HMD "80 Candles for 80 years" Film which shows the Candles made by our schools & a local artist. Pupils at Sacred Heart School have previously taken part in an HMD workshop where they researched the Life Stories of Survivors and they created colourful "Bridge Passports" to place on our "Tree of Remembrance" at the Commemoration Service.
