South Kesteven District Council has commissioned a community art installation of 80 lanterns to commemorate 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz. The lanterns have been created by the community through a series of workshops led by Grantham Arts and will be displayed on St Peter's Hill Green, Grantham Lincolnshire from 27th January 2025 to 31st January 2025. Running simultaneously will be an exhibition of photographs taken during a student visit to Auschwitz. The photographs which will be displayed in the Guildhall Arts Centre, Grantham, are by local artist Anne-Marie Kerr.
On Holocaust Memorial Day to coincide with the opening of the installation and the exhibition, the Council will fly the HMD flag and will light the external facade of the Guildhall Arts Centre in purple.
