In advance of Holocaust Memorial Day 2025 author Nicholas Milton will be talking about his new book, The Birdman of Auschwitz, alongside Ruth Jacobs, Jewish West Midlands community leader, and Holocaust Survivor, Mindu Hornick MBE. The talk will be a compelling history about the life of the Nazi guard Doctor Günther Niethammer and how this eminent ornithologist became the Birdman of Auschwitz. It will talk place at Waterstones Harborne branch in Birmingham on 21 January from 6-7pm. The profits from all book sales at the event will be donated to the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust. The event is free to attend but places are limited and reservation is essential. Please email the store to reserve a place.
