The first Thursday in March is World Book Day. It is a chance to celebrate books and reading, and is marked in over 100 countries throughout the world. It aims to encourage all young people to gain enjoyment through reading.
There are a number of books that can introduce children to the events of the Holocaust and the meaning of Holocaust Memorial Day. The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust has produced book group activities for young readers, these activities are suitable for use in schools, libraries, or at home.
Book group activities are also available for adult readers featuring a wide range of novels and memoirs from the Holocaust, genocide and a range of relevant contemporary issues.
