We're hosting a Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) Youth Champions Conference in London this month where we will celebrate the achievements of our current Youth Champions who helped extend the reach and impact of HMD 2014.

The conference, which takes place on Sunday 30 March, will also be an opportunity to welcome new Youth Champions for HMD 2015.

Participants will not only look back at HMD 2014, but also look ahead to 2015 – an important year that will mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

HMDT staff will exclusively reveal the theme for HMD 2015 and there will also be a session on the Genocide in Rwanda, which has its 20th anniversary next month.

The conference is designed to support Youth Champions and give them the skills they need to organise events for HMD.  There will be a public speaking training workshop on the day to help build confidence, overcome nerves and speak with fluency.

Youth Champions will have the privilege of meeting several Holocaust survivors, who will be available for informal chats over tea and cake. The survivors will be led by Ben Helfgott MBE, the Honorary President of HMDT.

Finally, representatives of the Prime Minister’s Holocaust Commission will be in attendance as it launches a competition for young people to join Helena Bonham-Carter and Natasha Kaplinsky and become a member of Commission themselves.

If you are interested in attending the Youth Champions Conference, then get in touch with HMDT Outreach Officer Naomi Line to RSVP.  Likewise, if you know any young people who may want to get involved, then please pass on these details.
