Responding to the appointment of the Board of the UK Holocaust Memorial Foundation, Olivia Marks-Woldman, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust said:

‘The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust warmly welcomes the appointment of the Board of the UK Holocaust Memorial Foundation. Sir Peter Bazalgette and his strong team have the ability to drive forward the vision set out by the Prime Minister's Holocaust Commission, which was announced at this year's Holocaust Memorial Day commemorations in central London. We look forward to supporting the Foundation as it works to collect survivor testimony and establish a national memorial and learning centre devoted to learning lessons from the Holocaust and Nazi Persecution.’

 

 

Responding to the appointment of Rt Hon Sir Eric Pickles MP as United Kingdom Envoy for post-Holocaust issues, Olivia Marks-Woldman, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust said:

‘The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust congratulates Rt Hon Sir Eric Pickles MP on his appointment as United Kingdom Envoy for post-Holocaust issues. Sir Eric has demonstrated his passionate commitment to ensuring the memory of the Holocaust is preserved, and that lessons are learnt from it. We look forward to working with Sir Eric to ensure that the UK continues to lead the world in Holocaust commemoration and education.

‘Outgoing Envoy Sir Andrew Burns has done an outstanding job ensuring that the UK’s voice is heard in international discussions on all Holocaust-related matters, and that we continue to respond to the concerns of Holocaust survivors and their families.
