Holocaust Memorial Day Youth Champions with HMDT Honorary President and Holocaust survivor Ben Helfgott MBE
Are you passionate about human rights and looking to create a future free from hate? Aged 14-24 and looking for opportunities to develop skills and to meet and learn from other passionate young people?
If this sounds like you, then become a HMD Youth Champion. As the next generation, you and other young people have a voice and the strength to ensure we don’t forget extreme acts of hatred. Young people are central to making sure we all learn the lessons from the past to challenge hatred, prejudice and discrimination in the UK today.
'The workshop was an amazing experience which really opened our eyes to what we can do to make a difference. We now have so many great ideas, which we hope will turn out to be amazing!' - Elisha Coates, HMD Youth Champion
You can start by reserving your place at our HMD Youth Champion workshops taking place in Liverpool, London and Edinburgh during October and November. Attending the workshop is your first step on the HMD Youth Champion programme.
At the event you’ll have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution, subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and ongoing atrocities in Darfur. You’ll explore and develop creative ideas for marking HMD and find out how you can inspire your peers to Keep the memory alive for HMD 2015. You will also meet other young people from your area, giving you the chance to network and share ideas.
By attending the workshop you will develop and build on your skills in communication, leadership and events management, giving you the know-how to become an HMD Youth Champion. Later in the programme you will also get the chance to meet survivors of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides - a moving and unforgettable experience.
