In November young people aged 13-24 from a variety of organisations including Aik Saath and the National Youth Theatre participated in two workshops to become HMD’s new Youth Champions.

Josh Whatsize, our Lead Youth Champion, and fellow Youth Champion Wes Andrews helped lead the workshops, which were based around this year’s theme Communities Together: Build a Bridge. They led a group activity where the young people brainstormed some brilliant and innovative ideas about what they could do for their own HMD 2013 activity.

Youth Champion Elisha Coates said,

‘The workshop was an amazing experience which really opened our eyes to what we can do to make a difference. We now have so many great ideas, which we hope will turn out to be amazing!’

One important role for Youth Champions is to assist HMDT as a volunteer at our thought-provoking and high-profile public and UK commemorative events, taking place this year on 27 and 28 January.
