Organise an activity

We’re delighted that you are interested in holding a commemorative activity for Holocaust Memorial Day.  You are joining thousands of individuals and organisations who want to share the lessons of the past to create a safer, better future.

A Holocaust Memorial Day activity can take many different forms, and to help you think creatively about yours you can get inspired by HMD activities from previous years.  Whether you are an individual or part of a big organisation, whether your activity is public or private, big or small, everyone in the UK has an important part to play in commemorating HMD. You can find out more by reading the answers to our frequently asked questions.
Wherever your HMD activity is taking place, there are some points you can follow to ensure it is a success.  We have advice on planning your event; resources to help you build the content of your programme as well as suggestions on how to increase publicity and evaluate your HMD activity.  We also have a simple checklist so you can ensure you’ve taken all the steps you need to in the lead up to 27 January.
If you want to ensure your activity has an impact beyond HMD you can read more about the potential legacy of HMD in all year round.
Lastly, please don’t forget to tell us about your plans.  If you don’t let us know we can’t capture the full picture of HMD in the UK or help you to market your event.
Remember that we’re here to help.  Whether you’d like to speak to us in person, attend our workshops or find out more about how you can participate in HMD, the HMDT team is always happy to hear from you.
If you are aged 13 – 24 then why not speak to one of our existing Youth Champions to get some advice about organising your event?
