HMDT statement on the UKHMF design team shortlist
The UK Holocaust Memorial Foundation has announced the ten teams selected to create designs for the new National Memorial to the Holocaust being built next to Parliament.
‘Holocaust Memorial Day Trust welcomes the international interest that the new National Memorial to the Holocaust has attracted. The exciting shortlist of design teams announced today comes at a time when hundreds of people are planning their own Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) activities ahead of HMD 2017 in January.
We look forward to seeing the ten designs unveiled in January, at a time when individuals and communities across the UK come together to remember not only those murdered during the Holocaust, but also others targeted during Nazi Persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
We are delighted that our Honorary President Ben Helfgott MBE has been invited to join the independent jury which will select the final memorial design.
We look forward to working with the UKHMF in the coming months and years as the new National Memorial is developed.’
