In light of the Holocaust Memorial Day theme for 2026, ‘Bridging Generations’, they have the privilege of attending a talk and Q and A session with Gillian Field, daughter of Holocaust survivors Henry Wuga and Ingrid Wolff. Gillian’s parents met in Glasgow after they were brought to the city in 1939 through the Kindertransport - a rescue operation that moved Jewish children from Nazi-controlled Europe to safety in Britain. Both her parents deservedly received honours for their services to Holocaust education and Gillian now continues their legacy. Pupils will also hear from Milan Copic, who grew up in Serbia and was called up to fight during the Bosnian War in the 1990s. Once he heard of the atrocities being committed against Bosnian Muslims, he came to Scotland.

Pupils undertaking our current S2 topic on the Holocaust will be assigned an element per class (8 in total), such as:

10 Steps to Genocide
Pre-War Jewish Life
Impact of the rise of National Socialism
Life in the Camps
Resistance to National Socialism
Non-Jewish victims of National Socialism
Liberation
Genocides since the Holocaust (Srebrenica and/or Rwanda; Uighurs)
