We delivered a Holocaust memorial assembly. We had an assembly for year 7 with an outline of the escalating treatment of the Jewish community in Nazi Germany and the Holocaust and focused on the fact that such extreme acts began with hate, prejudice and hate speech. We then linked this to modern issues on the nature of prejudice and the need to resist it. Years 8-11 have previously had this message so they had an assembly commemorating not just the victims of the Holocaust but individuals who refused to be bystanders and risked so much to try and do the right thing. We then linked this to current issues within our community of bystander behaviour.
