Author Ainslie Hepburn will give a talk about her latest book 'In the Footsteps of the Holocaust: The Story and Letters of a German Jewish Family' which details her family's experiences. It is the biography of Hermann Hartog (a Jewish teacher in Germany) and his wife, Henny, who escaped Germany but not the Nazis. They were befriended by people in the French village of Arette in south-west France, near to the Spanish border, but were eventually arrested and deported to Auschwitz. The letters that they wrote during this time to their daughters who were safe in England form part of the story.
The event takes place on Saturday 25 January 2025 in the Methodist Church in Boston Spa as part of a coffee morning. Doors open at 10.30am and the event finishes at 12.30pm. It is open to everyone.
