Joel Stern will talk via live link, with a Q & A session at the end of his talk.
Specifically written to introduce children and young adults to the Holocaust, Joel Stern tells the story of his grandfather’s experiences as shared in his book 'Just Freddy', from a young boy growing up in 1930s Germany to the rise in Nazism which saw his life turned upside down.
To mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2026, join Joel online at Newcastle City Library as he presents his grandfather’s story and shows that ‘the Holocaust didn’t start with violence, concentration camps and murder; but with the suspicion and intolerance of others.
