Bringing the Northern Holocaust Education Group into school on Wednesday 21st January at 14.00 - 14.50 provides Year 9 students with a powerful and meaningful learning experience that deepens their understanding of one of the most significant events in modern history. I have already spoken with Sam Neumann, who has confirmed that the group can offer a presentation tailored to support our curriculum and the needs of our students. Your visit complements the Year 9 educational curriculum by directly supporting the themes, topics, and historical perspectives explored in students’ reading and learning journals.
Through your presentation, survivor testimonies (where available), and engaging historical resources, students gain a richer, more personal understanding of the Holocaust beyond what can be achieved through textbooks alone. This helps them to:
Strengthen their knowledge of key historical events, individuals, and contexts
Build empathy and emotional awareness through real human stories
Connect their classroom reading—such as Holocaust-related novels or historical texts—to authentic lived experiences
Develop critical thinking skills about prejudice, discrimination, and the importance of human rights
Overall, the session enhances both academic learning and personal development, ensuring students gain a well-rounded, insightful, and responsible understanding of the Holocaust and its ongoing relevance today.
