Actor Robert Lindsay narrated the event.
Memorial candles were lit by survivors: Loai Hasballa- Darfur, Vahida Vukalić- Bosnia, Sophie Masereka- Rwanda, Sokphal Din- Cambodia, Joan Salter- Nazi Persecution, Mala Tribich- the Holocaust.
The candles were carried in a procession by Holocaust Memorial Day Youth Champions Hayley Carlyle, Elisha Coates, Katya Fowler, Charlotte Lee, Daniel Vogel and Jack Welch.
Holocaust survivors Susan Pollack and Zigi Shipper spoke about their experiences.
Holocaust survivors Joan Salter and Cirla Lewis spoke about acts of bravery which saved their families.
Actors Emilia Fox and Freddie Fox read testimony from Polish Jewish girls who were murdered in the Holocaust.
Actor Kevin Whately talked about the Oneg Shabbat Archive.
Dame Kristin Scott Thomas read a speech by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel.
Speakers included Rt Hon Greg Clark MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
Ephraim Mirvis, Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth.
Shurooq Abu El Nas, a singer whose family are from Darfur, sung Mother of orphans, which has a message of sympathy for a struggling war widow, and was banned by the Sudanese authorities.
The London Klezmer Quartet performed The Partisans' Song.
The Choir of Clare College Cambridge.
Cantor Jonny Turgel sung El Male Rachamim, the Jewish memorial prayer for the victims of the Holocaust.
The ceremony was introduced by Olivia Marks-Woldman, the Chief Executive of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.
More than 600 people attended the ceremony, including many senior political, religious, diplomatic and civic figures.
