Music competition

Inspired by memory and humanity

The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust is seeking an exceptional creator or group whose music will become part of our renowned national moment of remembrance Ceremony.

The BAFTA nominated UK National Holocaust Memorial Day Ceremony brings together members of the Royal Family, political and faith leaders, Holocaust survivors, artists and communities from across the UK.

This is a unique opportunity to share your music on a national stage, connect with audiences across the UK and contribute to a moment that helps people remember the past and protect the future.

The Holocaust Memorial Day Trust is the charity established by the UK Government to promote and support Holocaust Memorial Day in the UK.

Music that matters

Spotlighting emerging new music talent

This is a UK-wide competition for emerging musicians and composers aged 18–25.

For Holocaust Memorial Day 2027, we invite you to create an original musical response inspired by the theme ‘No Place for Prejudice’.

Music has the power to connect people across cultures, generations and experiences. It can help us remember, reflect and respond.

At the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, we believe remembrance is not only about looking back. It is also about inspiring action today.

Through HMD Harmony, we are looking for music that speaks to memory, humanity and the need to challenge prejudice wherever it is found.

Your music. Your moment.

The winning entry will receive:

  • The opportunity for your original music to be featured as part of the UK National Holocaust Memorial Day Ceremony on 27 January 2027.
  • A £500 monetary award to support the next stage of your musical journey.
  • Recognition from an expert judging panel drawn from music, arts and public life.
  • The chance to contribute to a national moment of remembrance reaching audiences across the UK.
