Guidance & Inspiration

Finding your musical response

Every composition begins somewhere.

We are inviting young musicians, composers and music creators from across the UK to compose an original musical response inspired by the Holocaust Memorial Day 2027 theme:

No Place for Prejudice

Your composition can be in any musical style and may include lyrics, spoken word or be entirely instrumental.

We are looking for thoughtful, creative and emotionally engaging responses that explore what it means to build a society where there is ‘No Place for Prejudice’.

UK National Holocaust Memorial Day Ceremony

As this piece may form part of the closing section of the UK National Holocaust Memorial Day Ceremony, we particularly welcome responses that leave audiences with a sense of hope, reflection and a shared commitment to building a better future where there is No Place for Prejudice.

Themes to explore

  • Hope and humanity
  • Identity and belonging
  • Community and connection
  • Dreams and aspirations
  • Courage and resilience
  • Standing up to prejudice
  • Respect and understanding
  • Building a better future

If your composition includes lyrics, we encourage you to incorporate the phrase ‘No Place for Prejudice’ into the lyrical content.
