HMD Partnership Group
The HMD Partnership Group, facilitated by Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, brings together national organisations which are working to extend the reach and impact of Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD).
The HMD Partnership Group meets four times per year, and brings together national organisations in the fields of Holocaust and genocide commemoration and education, and organisations which support survivors. Holocaust Memorial Day plays an important part in the annual activities of all Group members. Many of the member organisations have branches across the UK which are active in planning local HMD activities in January each year.
Currently, members of the HMD Partnership Group are:
- Aegis Trust
- Anne Frank Trust
- Association of Jewish Refugees
- Council of Christians and Jews

The group provides a valuable space for staff to work co-operatively to share information about their latest work, explore ideas for marking HMD and explore relevant topics. The HMD Partnership Group held an internal seminar in 2017 for members’ staff and trustees, considering the role of survivor testimony within educational and commemorative activities. We were delighted to welcome Ben Barkow, Director of the Wiener Library, Paul Salmons of the UCL Centre for Holocaust Education, and Dame Helen Hyde, to present at the seminar.
A dinner for the Chairs of the member organisations was held in 2018, co-hosted by Lord Bourne and Baroness Williams at the House of Lords, and with a presentation by Dr Joe Mulhall of Hope not Hate, on the impact of the far-right on Holocaust and genocide commemoration.
The HMD Partnership Group was established by Holocaust Memorial Day Trust in 2013.
