We held our annual Supporters’ Dinner on Thursday 29 January at the House of Commons, bringing together Holocaust survivors, politicians, business leaders and key supporters of the charity.  It was an of evening of reflection and a shared commitment to remembrance, helping to raise vital funds to support our work.

The dinner was opened by Sir Sajid Javid, Chair of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, followed by an address by the Rt Hon Wes Streeting MP, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care.

Additional speakers included Olivia Marks-Woldman OBE, our Chief Executive; Jonathan Sorrell, Chief Executive of Rathbones and HMDT Trustee, Michael Marx MBE. A central moment of the evening was a powerful conversation between Tabitha Steemson, granddaughter of Holocaust survivor, Dr Ágnes Kaposi MBE and Louisa Clein, daughter of Holocaust survivor, Channa Clein.

Olivia Marks-Woldman OBE, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust said:

Holocaust Memorial Day exists so that everyone, regardless of background, can learn about the horrors of the Holocaust and where persecution can lead.

The theme of Holocaust Memorial Day 2026 is Bridging Generations – a call to action for all of us – the generation who have the privilege of hearing survivors, of carrying memory forward. It is we, who must build the bridge between memory and action, between history and hope for the future. That responsibility has felt especially urgent this year as antisemitism has not only increased, but also led to violence in the UK and around the world.”

Tabitha Steemson is the granddaughter of Dr Agnes Kaposi MBE – a Holocaust survivor, engineer and author. When the Holocaust reached Hungary, Agnes witnessed events first-hand. As a young girl, she survived the Debrecen ghetto and was forced to work as a child labourer in camps in Austria. Agnes lost half her family in the Holocaust. In 2021. Dr Kaposi was awarded an MBE for services to Holocaust education and awareness by Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Louisa Clein is the daughter of Holocaust survivor Channah Clein and the sister of cellist Natalie Clein. Louisa is an actress best known for her role as Charlie Deed in the BBC series Judge John Deed (2001–2007).

The Supporters’ Dinner was generously supported by Rathbones.
