‘Etty’ play a great success
HMDT, in partnership with the Institute of Education's (IOE) Centre for Holocaust Education, held a performance of Etty, at the University of London.
American author and actress Susan Stein performed Etty, a play about a young woman murdered in the Holocaust, bringing her to life with a powerful performance.
Following the play, Susan led a question and answer session about Etty Hillesum’s life and the play, which touched on the emotional impact of playing Etty and how the play is adapted to reach a variety of audiences including schools and prisons.
Susan uses diaries and letters to bring the experiences of Etty Hillesum to life, find out how you can incorporate drama into your Holocaust Memorial Day activity.
