Yesterday we launched our new resources for Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) 2022 at a special online event.

Clare Lawlor, from the Imperial War Museums (IWM), shares the story of a red jumper that makes up part of the new Holocaust Galleries at IWM London. She explains what this simple artefact can tell us about a young woman’s experiences during the Holocaust.

Today, together with The National Holocaust Centre and Museum, we launched the new ORDINARY OBJECTS, EXTRAORDINARY JOURNEYS website at an online event attended by more than 150 people.

Eva Clarke BEM was born under unimaginably harrowing circumstances in the final days of World War II. Her birth, on 29 April 1945, just outside the gates of the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria, came just one day after the Nazis had run out of gas for the chambers and less than a week before liberation by the US Army.

Hosted by HMDT and Novus, the leading prison education organisation, the event brought together distinguished guests, community representatives and educational partners, including Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester Paul Griffiths DL, Esq, The Lord Mayor of Greater Manchester, Councillor Carmine Grimshaw and Holocaust survivor Anne Super.
